Want Bigger Breasts in Time for Summer?

Summer is almost here! Are you planning a trip to the lake or beach, but feel self-conscious about your body? Many women with naturally small or asymmetrical breasts find it difficult to fill out a bikini top and feel confident about their bodies in summertime attire. March and April are the perfect months to undergo breast augmentation and get ready for summer.

Am I a Candidate for Breast Augmentation?

The best person to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for breast augmentation is a board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Pugash. He will meet with you for an informative consultation to perform a physical examination and discuss your personal aesthetic goals.

Typically, suitable candidates for breast augmentation include women who:

  • Have naturally small or asymmetrical breasts or have lost breast volume as a result of pregnancy, breastfeeding or significant weight loss
  • Are in good physical and psychological health
  • Do not smoke
  • Have a generally positive self-image but want to improve the appearance of their breasts
  • Have reasonable expectations of the outcome of surgery

Breast Implant Options

After determining that you are an appropriate breast augmentation candidate, answering your questions and scheduling your surgery, Dr. Pugash will help you make some decisions about your breast augmentation. One of the decisions that will have the most influence on your results is the type of implant that you choose. Dr. Pugash has a lot of experience with three types of implants: saline, cohesive gel and highly cohesive gel implants (also known as “gummy bear” implants).

Saline implants are filled with a saltwater solution. The implant shell is placed in the breast almost empty and then filled to the pre-determined capacity. Dr. Pugash can adjust the final volume during surgery to produce an optimal outcome for the patient. They usually last 10 to 15 years.

Cohesive gel implants are composed of a silicone gel filling contained in a silicone rubber shell. They are filled before placing in the breast. Per Canadian regulations, patients who have cohesive gel implants placed must be 22 years old or older. The implants usually last 15 to 20 years.

Highly cohesive gel implants, or “gummy bear” implants, are pre-filled with a solid silicone gel that is very unlikely to leak. Gummy bear implants are usually used in cases where the implant is placed in front of the chest muscle.
