Dr. Pugash achieves chin enhancement by using an implant or the patient’s tissues. He will suggest the technique that is best for you. He may perform the surgery with an incision inside the mouth or under the chin. This operation is an outpatient procedure.
He may recommend chin augmentation to improve the results of another facial surgery when it is clear facial balance is necessary. For example, individuals with weak chins who request removal of loose skin or fat under the chin will obtain better results when the chin is stronger, with more balanced projection.
Swelling and bruising are visible around the chin and neck for a week or two. During this time, patients may experience difficulty smiling and talking. Dr Pugash will provide instructions about oral hygiene and diet to follow during recovery. Swelling and bruising usually disappear within three weeks after surgery. At this time, patients should feel confident enough to go out in public.
Risks and potential complications include reactions to the anesthetic, infection, bleeding, numbness of the lower lip and chin, scarring and an unsatisfactory aesthetic result. Dr. Pugash and his team will provide optimal care following surgery so you can return to your daily activities quickly and look great.
