Saline
- Filled with salt water solution
- Implant is filled after insertion, allowing shorter incision
- Less expensive in some practices
- Typical lifespan of 10-15 years
- Breast deflates when implant fails
- Approved for ages 18 and older
Silicone
- Filled with cohesive silicone gel
- Requires slightly longer incision as implant is already filled
- More expensive, generally more natural feeling than saline
- Typical lifespan of 15-20 years
- Rupture detected by MRI or other imaging
- Approved for ages 22 and older
Gummy Bear
- Filled with solid, or highly cohesive silicone gel
- Requires longer incision as implant is not compressible
- More expensive, more natural feel than saline
- Can be anatomically shaped
- Typical lifespan of 15-20 years
- Approved for ages 22 and older
