Saline

  • Filled with salt water solution
  • Implant is filled after insertion, allowing shorter incision
  • Less expensive in some practices
  • Typical lifespan of 10-15 years
  • Breast deflates when implant fails
  • Approved for ages 18 and older

Silicone

  • Filled with cohesive silicone gel
  • Requires slightly longer incision as implant is already filled
  • More expensive, generally more natural feeling than saline
  • Typical lifespan of 15-20 years
  • Rupture detected by MRI or other imaging
  • Approved for ages 22 and older

Gummy Bear

  • Filled with solid, or highly cohesive silicone gel
  • Requires longer incision as implant is not compressible
  • More expensive, more natural feel than saline
  • Can be anatomically shaped
  • Typical lifespan of 15-20 years
  • Approved for ages 22 and older
