Lip Injection

Vancouver Lip Injections by Dr. Pugash

Luscious, full lips are a hallmark of beauty and youth. Lip injections add volume to disproportionate or thin lips to create a balanced, feminine appearance that draws attention. Our popular lip enhancement injections employ hyaluronic acid dermal fillers to deliver volume to lips to create that keyhole pout or cupid’s bow. Lesley Tennant is our aesthetic nurse injector with extensive experience in lip enhancement through injections. She is skilled in delivering natural-looking results that will provide those full, sensual lips that most women want.

Candidates for Lip Injections

The best candidates for lip enhancement are individuals who are:

  • Looking for fuller lips without surgery
  • Over the age of 21
  • Not pregnant or breastfeeding

At Dr. Eric Pugash Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery, we offer two exceptional treatments for lip enhancement: Restylane® and Perlane® injections.

Restylane® for Lip Enhancement

Restylane® is a gel composed of hyaluronic acid particles. This substance is a natural component of the body. It is naturally found below the surface of the skin, and its purpose is to support skin structure by attracting and retaining moisture. By binding with water, Restylane® adds fullness to underlying tissues to increase volume and reduce wrinkles and fine lines.

During your consultation, Leslie will examine your mouth area to determine how much support you require, and in which areas. This assessment will determine the amount of filler to use and where to inject it. Patient concerns may include thin lips, fine lines around the mouth, and a lack of defined contour and balance between the upper and lower lips.

You will experience visible improvement within hours. The gel is long-lasting, and treatments can be repeated months later once the filler begins to be absorbed into the body.

Understanding Perlane®

Perlane® is also a hyaluronic acid filler designed for facial and lip corrections. Its concentration levels are best suited for deep wrinkles and folds, fine lines and thin or unbalanced lips.

Similar to Restylane®, this lip enhancing treatment adds volume to underlying skin layers to correct facial folds and wrinkles. Its clear gel is designed to add fullness to target areas, including your lips.

How Is Perlane® Different from Restylane®?

Patients interested in lip enhancement in the Vancouver area should understand the difference in these injection treatments. Perlane® is made of larger particles than Restylane® and is injected more deeply into the dermis. This injection allows the filler to treat deeper wrinkles that require a significant, in-depth dosage.

Three clinical studies with 150 participants each found that about 70% of patients experienced a marked improvement in their skin texture or lip volume. They also maintained improvement for six months after receiving Perlane® injections.

Emerval

Emervel is a dermal filler injection treatment that can be customized to meet your specific needs. We use it to enhance lip volume, soften facial lines, wrinkles and folds, and to increase cheek fullness. This non-surgical approach to enhancing your appearance offers results that last up to one year.

What Option Is Right for You?

If you can’t determine which filler is best suited for your aesthetic needs, you should schedule a consultation and allow Leslie to use her expertise in helping you achieve your cosmetic goals. She can provide you with a thorough evaluation and sound medical advice on how to proceed. The entire team is dedicated to helping you look your best always.

Lip Injection FAQs

How long do your lip fillers last?

Although patient results vary, Restylane® injections last from six to nine months. Perlane® injection will last at least six months.

Are lip injections painful?

The lip is one of the more sensitive areas on the face. Injection to this area can cause some discomfort, but the inclusion of lidocaine in the filler or use of a topical anesthetic cream can help make your treatment more comfortable. Also, Lesley can offer nerve blocks with local anesthetic to freeze the lips completely.

Can I get repeat treatments?

Because the filler’s active ingredient is natural sugar, it will eventually absorb back into the body. When this begins to happen, you can schedule a follow-up treatment to ensure that your results are long-lasting.

How long before I see my lip injection results?

You will notice immediate improvement right after your treatment. Any swelling will subside within a couple of days.

Is there any downtime after lip filler injections?

There will be some swelling and bruising after treatments, so we recommend you take it easy for the first couple of days.

What are the most natural lip fillers?

There are two types of lip enhancement procedures in aesthetic medicine, permanent and temporary. We suggest temporary fillers if you’re after the most natural look. Although tempting, permanent fillers are not reversible, and little can be done if you’re not satisfied.

The best option is to choose an injectable hyaluronic acid filler. This sugar derivative is found naturally in your body and will attract moisture and hold it. It’s perfect for hydration and plumping up your lips.

What should I know before getting lip fillers?

To make your lip filler experience productive and safe, here are some things to keep in mind before your treatment:

  • Avoid medications that thin the blood like anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen and aspirin)
  • Avoid opioids and certain supplements like vitamin E and fish oil.
  • Stop drinking alcohol, which also thins your blood.
  • Inform your skincare professional of a history of cold sores to prevent breakouts after treatment.

Are injectable lip fillers dangerous?

Many of our patients refer to our dermal filler injections as “lunchtime” procedures because of their convenience. But injections, although minimally-invasive, do come with risks. We highly recommend you seek a board-certified plastic surgeon to oversee your lip enhancement process and a qualified injector to perform the treatments. These professionals will reduce the risks and increase the effectiveness and safety of the procedure, ensuring beautiful outcomes.
