Facelift

Facelift surgery is used to restore pleasing contours to the face and neck. It also produces a more refreshed, youthful appearance. Both women and men can benefit from this operation. Dr. Pugash strives for a natural result, with little evidence that surgery has been carried out.

Dr. Pugash will assess the condition of your skin and the severity of wrinkles and folds. Your hairline will be examined to determine where incisions can be placed. The structure of your face will be considered to tailor your surgery to you.

Facelift surgery is often combined with other procedures to correct eyebrow position, baggy upper and lower eyelids, and wrinkling of the lower eyelids and lips. Dr. Pugash will review these with you so you can make the best possible choices.

Dr. Pugash provides a facelift procedure that includes removal of excess fat, tightening of the muscle layers, and removal of loose skin. In some cases, fat grafting may be carried out to restore fullness in areas of hollowing. The resulting scars are hidden under the chin and around the ear.

In some cases a short scar technique may be used to eliminate all scarring behind the ear. This allows women to wear their hair up without concern for visible scars.

Potential risks and complications of facelift surgery include reactions to the anesthetic, bleeding that requires a return to the operating room, infection, poor scarring, hair and skin loss, nerve injuries, and unsatisfactory aesthetic results.

Facelift surgery is usually carried out as a day care procedure, although patients may choose to spend the first night in the clinic. Most patients are presentable within three weeks or so of surgery.

The results of facelift surgery are meant to last years. Of course your general health, changes in weight, and life events all affect how you age. Many people are concerned that they are committing themselves to a series of operations once they have a facelift. This is not the case; you need never have anything further done, or you may decide to have additional procedures as the years pass.
