Liquid silicone gel breast implants consist of a Silastic (silicone rubber) shell with a liquid silicone gel filling.

They are generally used in a smooth, round configuration. These implants produce less rippling than saline devices and somewhat more than cohesive implants. They can be used behind or in front of the pectoralis muscle. Current liquid gel devices have been improved to limit leakage of the gel outside the implant. Current Canadian regulations limit use of silicone gel devices to patients aged 22 years or older.
