In this operation the implant is always placed behind the muscle. Both saline and silicone gel implants can be placed through an axillary incision.
This operation has the advantage of placing the scar off the breast. Not all women are candidates for this operation, and it can be more difficult to go back later on if necessary to fix a problem.
